Country Music Legend Johnny Cash has become the first musician to receive a statue at the U.S. Capitol.
In August of this year Arkansas announced that they were adding a statue of the iconic musician to the National Statuary Collection in the U.S. Capitol.
Yesterday (9/24) The Man in Black’s statue was unveiled during a ceremony at the U.S. Capitol. The base of the statue is inscribed with, “ARKANSAS” … “Johnny Cash” … “1932 – 2009” … “Singer – Songwriter” … “Artist – Humanitarian”.
Rosanne Cash, Johnny’s Daughter, was among the speakers at the ceremony. She said, “I’m very careful not to put words in his mouth since his passing, but on this day, I can safely say . . . of all the many honors and accolades he received in his lifetime, this is the ultimate.”
You can watch the entire ceremony in the video below.
