Last night was the Toby Keith: American Icon TV Special. One of Toby songs, performed by Jelly Roll, stood out to me as one of the most poignant songs to me.

Let me say that I thought the entire special was great. All the artists did an amazing job of paying tribute to Toby, his life and his music. They helped spotlight what the Big Dog Daddy meant to country music, out military men and women, American patriotism and most of all … his family.

That last one is where Jelly Roll’s performance comes in. He performed Toby’s hit single “My List.” The #1 song was very meaningful when it was released following the events the previous year of 9/11/2001. Last night … listening to the words … watching Toby’s wife Tricia reacting … thinking about the loss of Toby, it became more poignant than ever.
