Warner Bros. has announced its return to Middle-earth.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced a new “Lord of the Rings” film during Thursday’s first-quarter earnings conference call.

According to Zaslav, films are “now in the early stages of script development” and will “explore storylines yet to be told.”

The first of these new films has a working title of “Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” and will star Andy Serkis, who will also be directing. Andy played “Gollum” in the previous films.

These new films are expected to begin to be released in 2026.
