If we are all honest, we likely do not have a pair of gloves in the glove compartment of our vehicle. Likely it is full of things like sunglasses, napkins, handy wipes, papers and much more.
The glove compartment was originally meant to store driving gloves. Since cars were open for the most part, they kept the driver’s hands clean. With the advancement of cars to being enclosed and air conditioned, the purpose of the glove compartment changed.
Lifehacker.com reports you can still make your glove compartment a useful storage compartment. Here are eight items everybody should keep in their glove compartment according to a mechanic…
1. Flashlight
2. Your vehicle’s manual
3. Proof of insurance and registration
4. Tire pressure gauge
5. Mini first aid kit
6. Pen and paper
Perhaps a bit old-school, but you never know.
7. A multi-tool
It has pliers, a screwdrivers, and a small knife for roadside emergencies.
8. Spare fuses
If one blows while on the road, you can replace it. Refer to the previously mentioned vehicle manual for how to replace it.
