Due to the current wildfires in Hawaii, people with travel plans to the state in the near future are understandably wondering what they should do.

To begin with, if you planned to visit Maui, local government officials want nonessential travel to the island to be rescheduled to help ease the stress on local infrastructure.

Major airlines are also offering travel waivers and changes to bookings without penalties to better assist customers.

Airlines offering these options include Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines.

Hawaii’s tourism management authority also issued a statement saying, “Visitors with travel plans to stay in other parts of Maui and the Kohala Coast of Hawaiʻi Island in the coming weeks are encouraged to contact their hotels for updated information and how their travel plans may be affected.”

As of the writing of this blog, the death toll has risen to 96 with hundreds still missing. More than 1,000 buildings have been destroyed with an estimated $5.5 Billion in property damage. We are sending love and prayers to the people of Hawaii during this tragic time.

Right now, the Hawaiian officials say the best way to help is through monetary donations. You can donate safely to help those in Hawaii through the American Red Cross – Hawaii Wildfires Relief here.
