There is a very subtle thing you may do when using your phone that young people say shows you are old.
Gen Zers are making fun of people who use their index finger to scroll on their phone. Young people use their thumb to do the scrolling.
In a recent poll conducted by the makes of “Candy Crush,” 80% of Gen Zers use their thumb to play on their phone. For Millennials it is 67% for thumb use. However, 73% of Baby Boomers say they use their index finger.
One theory for the difference is that the first touchscreens came with a stylus. For those young enough not to remember those days, a stylus was like a pen with no ink to use on touchscreens.
40% of the Gen Zers polled said they would be embarrassed if they were seen in public scrolling with their finger.
