Singer-songwriter Carly Pearce was born and raised in Kentucky. The award-winning country star is getting what I can only imagine is one of the highest honors from her home state.
The Kentucky Derby is such a major event every year that being a part of it in any way is a big deal. People from around the country and the world attend and watch it on TV. Carly Pearce has been announced as the singer for the National Anthem at the 2023 Kentucky Derby.
For people in Kentucky the Derby is more than an event, it is a hallowed holiday in the state. That means for a Kentuckian like Carly, singing the National Anthem before the race is about as high an honor as you can get in the state.
