Can “Staying In” be a Date?

It used to be that when you said you had a “date” it meant you were going someplace. Perhaps you were heading out to dinner, to a movie, a concert, dancing at a Club … That kind of thing. However, in the era of streaming movies at home, a.k.a. “Netflix and Chill”, that definition may have changed some.

A new poll of 5,000 people in relationships asked what their favorite thing to do for a “date night activity”. Going out to dinner remains the top “date-night activity.” However, STAYING IN ranked at #2. In fact, four and possibly five of the top ten can be done by staying in.

Top 10 Date Night Activities

1.  Going out to dinner.  46%

2.  A night in together, 28%

3.  Going to the movies, 22%

4.  Cooking together, 15% (A staying in activity)

5.  Going on a long drive, 13%

6.  Shopping, 13% (If shopping ONLINE counts as a date, it couple done staying in)

7.  A romantic walk on the beach, 10%

8.  Going camping, 10%

9.  Engaging in a hobby together, 10% (A possible staying in activity)

10.  Game nights, 9% (A possible staying in activity)

Really, in this economy you have to do what you can to make it all work, right. I mean, I count DJing a wedding reception with my wife as my assistant as taking her out to eat. 😊
