Recently there was a debate on social media about who should place the divider at the checkout of a supermarket. Now there’s a new debate.

Have you been using the divider at the supermarket checkouts wrong?

A meteorologist from Arkansas named Ryan Vaughan made a post stating that the proper way to place it is down the middle of the conveyor belt long way. Most people place it across the width of the belt.

Ryan’s justification for his way is that it is “to trip the sensor, and keep a distance.” He indicates that placing it width-wise just serves as a “privacy fence.”
