The Hollywood rumor mill seems to be running at full speed about the demise of the popular series Yellowstone.
Deadline reported yesterday that Taylor Sheridan and Paramount are moving to end the current series. The report explains that Kevin Costner wants to dramatically cut how much time he spends on location filming Yellowstone.
However, Entertainment Weekly reports that a Paramount Network spokesperson released a statement saying, “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come.” That seems to indicate that the series is not ending, but it does not dispute the possible time issue with series star.
The series has created successful spin-offs including the Tim McGraw led 1883 and Harrison Ford led 1923. A Mathew McConaughey led spin-off is apparently a real possibility. “Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner,” the network spokesperson also stated.
We will have to wait and see how this all shakes out. Much like having to wait and see what happens in the second half of season five of Yellowstone this summer.
