Get ready for Ri-Ri! Rihanna has just been drafted to headline the Super Bowl LVII halftime show!
Turns out those rumors about Taylor Swift are in fact false as Rihanna AND the NFL have both confirmed the announcement. Rihanna took to Instagram on Sunday to share a photo her tattooed hand holding up an NFL-branded football. The post also marks Rihanna’s first social media activity since giving birth to her first child in May.
Roc Nation, which oversees the halftime show, shared Rihanna’s post, adding the caption, “Let’s GO.” Followed by a statement by Jay-Z…
“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn. A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”
It’s been awhile since we have seen Rihanna in the music spotlight. She has not performed onstage since the 2018 Grammy Awards, and has not released a new album since 2016 or new music in general in more than two years, instead her focus has been on Fenty Beauty, and most recently, her son.
Apple Music will be the new for the 2023 Super Bowl, scheduled to be played at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on Feb. 12.
