The NASCAR Cup Series will be celebrating the Fourth of July weekend in the Kwik Trip 250 presented by JOCKEY Made in America Sunday, July 3rd.

This will be the second consecutive year that the modern era of NASCAR drivers has raced at Road America. The only other time the series raced at the track was in 1956. That makes this weekend another track this year that the drivers and teams will have limited notes to use for the race.

Here is the data that the drivers do know about the track and the race.

Road America – Track Data
Track Size: 4.048-miles
Track Type: Multi-Elevational Paved Road Course
Number of Turns: 14

Kwik Trip 250 Data
Season Race #: 18 of 36 (07-03-22)
Race Length: 62 laps / 250.98 miles
Stage 1 Length: 15 laps
Stage 2 Length: 15 laps
Final Stage Length: 32 laps

There have only ever been two drivers that have won a NASCAR Cup Series race at Road America. Those drivers are Tim Flock (1956) and Chase Elliott (2021).

Here are the top ten active drivers in overall driver rating at Road America.

Chase Elliott – 139.0
Kyle Busch – 122.5
Tyler Reddick – 106.2
Christopher Bell – 104.4
Denny Hamlin – 103.4
Kurt Busch – 101.8
Ross Chastain – 100.2
Kyle Larson – 95.3
Martin Truex Jr. – 91.9
Chase Briscoe – 88.7

It is going to be interesting to find out how the race plays out.

Chase picked up his second win of the season last week in Nashville. He is also one of the best road course races in the NASCAR Cup Series. The Playoffs are fast approaching. Can he use the momentum of last week’s win to get a third win for the year? If he does, that would put him at the top of the list of names as favorites to win the championship this year.

There are other drivers with wins that will be trying to add to their totals to make sure they have a strong presence and good chance to advance in the post-season.

There are also many drivers that typically would have a win by now that do not in this season. They are looking to “win to get in” for the Playoffs.

A road course is a race that anything can happen on and any driver could find themselves in position to win. It all should make for an interesting race that could have its own fireworks this Fourth of July weekend.

We will find out what stories are told when the green flag waives to start the Kwik Trip 250 presented by JOCKEY Made in America Sunday, July 3rd at 2 p.m. central time (3 p.m. eastern time) at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
