Baseball fans can get excited because Prime Video is getting ready to premiere A League of Its Own, based on the popular Penny Marshall comedy A League of Their Own starring Tom Hanks and many others.

August 12, get ready to play ball as Amazon just announced the news with a first look teaser of the series.

Both the series and movie version take place in 1943, the year that the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League was formed. The show focuses on a different team than the one featured in the movie, but with the same concept of the women’s league keeping baseball alive when a majority of the male players were drafted during the war.

Yes their will be new characters, no you will not see Tom Hanks, Gina Davis, or any of the characters from the movie.

It looks really good! And you can get excited to see it when it premieres on Prime Video August 12th.
