‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Jets Past Expectations at the Box Office

The long holiday weekend was the perfect place for Top Gun: Maverick to make a massive debut at the box office.

There was plenty of hype about the sequel to the 1986 block buster Top Gun. While there seemed to be plenty of excitement as well, the original was released 36 years ago. That would be more than enough of a gap to have the hype fall flat in revenue.

However, that was not the case. Top Gun: Maverick brought in a whopping $126.7 million from Friday through Sunday in North America. Add in Monday and the total jumps to $156 million! It is the biggest Memorial Day opening of ALL TIME domestically. The movie made $248 million worldwide! That is an impressive amount in normal times. Factor in the whole COVID situation and that really makes it an even bigger accomplishment!

Did you see Top Gun: Maverick? Would you recommend it to your friends?
