Brett Young scored a #1 song with “Lady,” which he wrote for his first daughter Presley before she was born. Of course, everybody wondered if Brett would write a song for his second daughter, Rowan, who was born last July. At first, Brett says, “My first reaction was like, that’s unreasonable to think that you can just do that. And then the more I thought about it, I was like, no, I definitely have to do it.”

Brett realized that as his girls got older, to have a song he wrote especially for one of them and not the other would probably not be good, so, he decided, “I can’t write the same song. That’s obvious. I need it to be different enough that it feels special to baby number two. And so, I think the big difference will be that I wrote Presley’s song before she was born. To make this one a little different, wait and spend some time getting to know personality traits and all of that, and kind of have it be coming from a little bit different place as a parent.”

Now that Rowan is eight months old, we wonder if Brett has had the chance to get to know enough about her to inspire her song yet. We’ll have to wait and see.
