Thomas Rhett released two Christmas songs a couple of years ago – his version of “The Christmas Song” and an original he wrote with Chris Tomlinson called “Christmas in the Country.” While he hopes his original song will stick around for many years to come, Thomas says. “It’s kind of impossible to write a classic, you know what I’m sayin’? You just kinda hope that it’s cool enough to survive one year and maybe it’ll get played the next year.”

While no one can ever know if an original Christmas song will stand the test of time and one day be considered a classic, Thomas says, “I think my dream in life would be to write a classic Christmas song that gets played until my kids are older, but there’s a lot of classics out there that are incredible.”

Thomas is such a talented and prolific songwriter that it’s entirely possible he could write a Christmas song that will be played and enjoyed for generations to come.
