Jason Aldean asked Carrie Underwood to sing on his latest single “If I Didn’t Love You.” It is no surprise that the song reached #1 for the two country music superstars.
The advanced release of the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles charts have the collaboration between Jason and Carrie in the top spot on both charts for this week.
“If I Didn’t Love You” marks the 26th career number one single for Jason. This is Carrie’s 28th chart topping single.
Jason shares what it was like working with Carrie and when he first knew the pairing was going to work.
“I think that’s always the question. It’s always a question of … On paper, this sounds like it would be great, but until you get in the studio, and really hear it … You don’t know. I think for me, as soon as I heard her start to sing, with my voice, it was like ‘Alright. This is pretty special.’ I think we all knew that right away, and knew we were on to something cool.”
Carrie shares her thoughts about getting to work with Jason on this song.
“Jason asked if I would sing ‘If I Didn’t Love You’ with him. I knew I liked the song, and Jason and I have actually been kind of trying to do things together over the years. We’ve sang together before, but we’ve never officially recorded anything together. It just kind of felt like this could be our moment. I felt like it was a little bit of an unexpected duet to other people, but I feel like I kinda always knew at some point I’d probably sing with him officially … And this just seemed like, the stars were aligning and it just seemed like it was going to be the perfect fit.”
Listen for “If I Didn’t Love You” by Jason Aldean featuring Carrie Underwood on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104.
