Garth Brooks is one of the honorees at the 43rd annual Kennedy Center Honors but it was Kelly Clarkson that brought Garth to tears!

Kelly was one of the many performers at this years honors and performed a soulful rendition of his beloved song “The Dance.”

Garth was crying, Trisha was holding back tears, and I had goosebumps. I can’t WAIT to see the entire performance when it airs this weekend.

Kelly has always said the song was meaningful to hear and helped her through her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, which is still ongoing. Garth was on the Kelly Clarkson show back in December when Kelly explained what the song meant to her.

This isn’t Kelly’s first time at the Kennedy Center honors, in 2018 she got to pay tribute to her idol and friend (and former MIL) Reba McEntire.

Garth was joined as an honoree this year by Dick Van Dyke, Debbie Allen, Joan Baez, and Midori. Kelly wasn’t the only performer…Jimmie Allen, Pentatonix, Emmylou Harris, Derek Hough, Gladys Knight, and YoYo Ma also performed.

Although awarded last month, the Kennedy Center Honors is set to air on Sunday, June 6 at 7pm CT on CBS.
