Last night (3/15) was the fifth night of Blind Auditions on season 20 of The Voice. Which artists chose to join Team Blake by choosing Blake Shelton as their coach?

To begin with let me state that I thought they would bring the Blind Auditions to their end this week. Each team only needed three more artists to be full. I really expected they would get that done in tonight’s two-hour episode. I was wrong.

There were three Blind Auditions that had no chair turns on the episode. There were also the show’s attempts at comedy breaks off stage. Remove those and they could have wrapped up the Blinds tonight. Now to the business at hand.

Jordan Matthew Young took on the iconic country song “I’m No Stranger To The Rain.” The 34-year-old took a big risk in changing the song quite a bit from Keith Whitley’s original and legendary version. I feel like that might be what delayed Blake for quite awhile before he pressed his button. I know that’s what made it take awhile for me realize he did have a good sound to his voice. It also seemed that once Blake gave his approval it allowed Kelly and Nick to decide they liked Jordan Matthew’s voice as well.

Again it was all three of the other coaches versus Blake Shelton trying to encourage Jordan Matthew to pick anybody but Blake. Kelly even edited different clips of Blake’s fiancé Gwen Stefani together to make it seem like she was endorsing Kelly as the best choice. In the end Jordan Matthew picked Blake Shelton and joined Team Blake.

25-year-old Savanna Chestnut took a risk of her own. She performed the 80s new-wave, synth-pop song “Hold Me Now” by the Thompson Twins. However, she removed the dance track and did it with a country music arrangement. It was enough to impress Blake with her voice and creativeness. He was the only coach to press his button so Savanna became part of Team Blake.

All four coaches added two more artists to their respective teams during the episode. That means each team still needs a single artist to be full.

There will not be a second night of Blind Auditions this week. The episode ended tonight promoting that the Blind Auditions would conclude Monday, March 22nd on season 20 of The Voice.
