If you are having trouble checking the status of your second stimulus check, you are not alone.
Millions of people have already received the second round of stimulus checks, but so many have faced issues getting their $600 payment.
According to the IRS, those who filed 2019 tax returns and provided direct deposit information should automatically receive the payments in their bank accounts between December 29th & January 15th, however many people have not only not received their money, but are also having trouble checking the status of their payment.
The Get My Payment tool on IRS.gov is designed to tell you when you should expect to receive your payment, but many people are receiving a message that reads “Payment Status Not Available.” If you got that message, you aren’t the only one.
The message contiinues, “We are unable to provide the status of your payment right now because we don’t have enough information yet (we’re working on this), or you’re not eligible for a payment.” For people who had no trouble receiving their first payment, you would think this wouldn’t be an issue. You can check the status update daily, to see if your status has changed, but there seems to be no way to call and talk to anyone about the issues.
And according to IRS.Gov, those who are eligible and do not get a second COVID-19 relief check by January 15th may be able to claim it when they file their 2020 taxes this year, because technically the second stimulus check is an advanced payment of this tax credit.
Another issue people have been having is seeing that the money was sent, but it went to a different account. For example, if H&R block prepared your taxes last year. According to H&R block, many customers that used the refund transfer option on their taxes may have had their stimulus check sent to that temporary account, instead of their personal bank account, so you should still get your money, but it will come from H&R block instead.
Hopefully you haven’t had the issues many are facing.
