Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, will host this year’s CMA Country Christmas special, next week on ABC. It’s the first time Lauren has hosted anything, and the first time they’ve ever hosted together as a couple, and prior to the taping, they were expecting to not necessarily get it perfect their first try. When Thomas asked, “Can they expect re-dos?” Lauren said, “For sure a lot of re-dos… a lot of retakes but a lot of fun, and I’m excited. I think it’s gonna be fun.”
The good news is, all of the retakes and bloopers will be edited out after filming, so all everyone at home will see will be a great night of Christmas music performances and a great hosting job by Thomas and Lauren. And while Lauren loves to be festive and decorate for every holiday, Thomas says, “Christmas is Lauren’s favorite time of the year, and mine, but Lauren goes all-out on Christmas. So, just to be here experiencing this beautiful Christmas set, gettin’ to see a bunch of our friends, gettin’ to perform our favorite Christmas songs and gettin’ to host this together is gonna be a blast.”
When Lauren, who is a self-proclaimed Christmas fanatic, talked about her favorite part of hosting CMA Country Christmas, she said, “My favorite part is getting to do something in the most magical space. I mean everything is decked out with Christmas. It’s just like Christmas threw up all in this place and it’s like my dream come true.”
CMA Country Christmas, hosted by Thomas and Lauren, and featuring performances by Florida Georgia Line, Lady A, Tim McGraw and more will air next Monday, November 30th, at 9pm ET/8pm CT on ABC.
