Starting Monday, July 20th, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Best Buy are joining other retailers and will start requiring all customers to wear face masks nationwide while shopping.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, and it isn’t exactly being welcomed with open arms.

As coronavirus cases continue to rise, about 65% of Walmart’s stores and Sam’s Club’s locations, are located in areas where there is a government mandate on face coverings, so they have decided to implement the requirement at all stores. They say that they will provide complimentary masks for customers who come in without one, or masks can be purchased in the store.

“While we’re certainly not the first business to require face coverings, we know this is a simple step everyone can take for their safety and the safety of others in our facilities,” in a recent statement made. “To help bring consistency across stores and clubs, we will require all shoppers to wear a face covering starting Monday, July 20.”

Walmart is joining several chains who are requiring masks, including Costco, Kroger, Kohl’s and Starbucks.

None of this is surprising, as COVID cases grow, many cities and states are reimposing restrictions, including mask requirements in public settings.

For people who are upset about the decision, there is always grocery pickup or delivery options.
