When Thomas Rhett was younger, he was the kid whose dad, Rhett Akins, was a famous country singer, and he says, “Growing up with a dad that sang music, it felt normal to me, but looking back at it, it was kind of a strange upbringing. But my dad made life feel very normal even though his life was not.”
So, now as a father to his own kids, Thomas says that’s one trait or characteristic from his dad that he hopes to be able to pass onto his own daughters. “No matter what we get to do, whether traveling around the world and playing shows and then watching me sing, I do want them to stay as grounded and feel like they live as much of a normal life as they possibly can. And so I’m super thankful to my dad for helping me do that, too.”
For Thomas and his kids, the Coronavirus pandemic has been somewhat of a blessing, because even though he’s staying busy promoting his latest single, “Be A Light,” and constantly working on new music, it’s all stuff that he’s been doing at home. So, it has allowed Thomas to spend more time with his kids, doing normal daddy daughter stuff, when he otherwise would have been gone several days each week touring.

We wish Thomas Rhett, Rhett Akins and every dad a Happy Father’s Day.
Looking back, what is something your dad provided for you that you are grateful for now?
