Country music group Old Dominion has dropped three songs that had not been released previously.
Fans got the surprise as the group released songs that had not been included on their previously released albums. The group’s front man Matthew Ramsey explains to fans why they made the songs available.
“When we were growing up, the bands that we idolized sometimes would release songs that didn’t make the album, and rarities and B-sides and things like that. So we thought it might be cool for you guys to hear some music that didn’t make the first two albums. So, they’re a little raw, a little unpolished, but happy to get some new, technically old, music out to you guys. I hope you enjoy it, and we’ll see you soon.”
The three songs are “I’m On It,” “Can’t Get You” and “Goes Without Saying.”
“I’m On It” was recorded originally to be on the band’s debut album, Meat And Candy. “Can’t Get You” is the studio version from their sophomore offering Happy Endings. “Goes Without Saying” is a song from an independent EP recorded before signing a record deal.
Matthew reveals that “I’m On It” actually had to be removed from their debut album, Meat And Candy, to make room for what turned out to be a number one song.
“The story of ‘I’m On It’ is … It was on the album Meat and Candy right up until the last second, when we wrote a song called ‘Song For Another Time’ and we had to kick a song off of the album to make room for ‘Song For Another Time,’ and ‘I’m On It’ was that song. Now listening back to it, I kind of wish we had included ‘I’m On It’ on there.”
