Have you heard the saying “Third time is the charm”? Travis Denning is hoping that saying holds true when it comes to getting a number one single.
“After A Few” is the third single from the country music singer-songwriter. It currently sits at #2 on the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles charts this week.
Mercury Nashville, Travis’ record label, is making a big push to get the song to the top of the charts this week. The push has Travis watching the process with some mixed emotions.
“Honestly this week I’m just grateful. I’m obviously nervous. I’m excited. I’m super pumped, but I’m just kind of grateful for the opportunity that we’re making this push to go number one.”
His first two singles “Ready For Tonight” and “David Ashley Parker from Powder Springs” never got close enough to the top of the charts to even consider a number one from them.
“After A Few” has been climbing the Billboard chart for 64 weeks now. That has already set some records on the chart.
When the song hit the Top 10 after 57 weeks on the chart that was a new record. (Previous record 50 weeks: Easton Corbin’s “Girl Like You” and Aaron Watson’s “Outta Style”)
When the song was still climbing the chart after 60 weeks that was another new record. (Previous record 59 weeks: Jimmie Allen’s “Make Me Want To”)
If Travis hits #1 on the Billboard chart with this song it will again make history for most weeks to reach number one. (Current record 58 weeks: Jimmie Allen’s “Make Me Want To”)
Travis is already so humbled by how much this song has achieved. Reaching number one on the charts would just be a special bonus for him.
“Whether it hits it or not, this song has been on such a journey, a record-breaking journey, and just to see people dig into a song, fall in love with it and hold on to it is more than enough than I’ll ever need to be happy, but I do think that number one spot would be a nice little cherry on top.”
Listen for “After A Few” by Travis Denning on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104.
The song is part of the debut EP from Travis Denning titled Beer’s Better Cold that is available everywhere now.
We will all watch and hope that “After A Few” reaches the top of the charts for Travis Denning.
