Country music singer-songwriter Luke Combs says that the music from Eric Church is what he and his friends could bond over.
Luke explained that many of his friends back in high school were not country music fans.
“All my friends from high school, none of them listened to country music at all. I mean, it just wasn’t their thing.”
Luke says it was Eric Church music that he was able to get his friends to listen to and like.
“I’ve kind of been the guy that’s integrated this genre into my friend group, and the person that all those people gravitate towards is Eric. And I think that reason being [is] the songwriting, the show, the production. Like everything, it just feels like he really cares about what’s going on musically and in the eyes of his fans, and that’s something I’ve always tried to emulate.”
Luke co-wrote the song “Does To Me” with Ray Fulcher and Tyler Reeve. He then got his hero Eric Church to sing the song with him. Since that point Luke has been able to get to know Eric a little better.
“We’ve spent a decent amount of time together, hanging out on a couple instances. But it’s been really neat, man, it’s been great getting to know him as a guy. You know, they say don’t meet your heroes, but he’s definitely … he’s been great to me. He’s been a great guy to meet and that was a great experience, which I was definitely nervous about.”
“Does To Me” is spending a second week at #1 on the country charts this week. Listen for the song by Luke Combs and Eric Church on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104.
