The Towanda 4th of July parade is one of the biggest in central Illinois and it will not take place this year.
The Towanda 4th of July committee met Tuesday and made the decision to cancel the 2020 July 4th parade and celebration. That includes the Fireworks, Flea Market, Dance, HCE Spaghetti Dinner and all other 4th of July celebrations in Towanda.
The press release making the announcement to parade participants stated,
This decision was made with consideration for the safety of our own community, visitors from near and far, flea market and food vendors, parade entrants, our planning committee, and many others. This was not an easy decision and was done with much thought.
The press release also made note that the parade and other activities will return in 2021.
With the pandemic, how do you plan to celebrate the 4th of July this year?
