It’s been announced that the Oscars are making a one-time rule change for next year’s awards ceremony.

Next year, the Oscars will allow movies made available on streaming services or on-demand eligible for the best picture award amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Another change announced was that sound editing and sound mixing will be made into one category.

As you may have guessed, the reason for the rule change was because of the pandemic causing theaters to close.
