Blake Shelton regrets that Morgan Wallen was not on Team Blake when he was on The Voice during season 6.
Blake has gone through ten complete seasons since Morgan was on the competition show. You can understand why some of the specifics are not spot on for Blake since it has been some time and he has likely had many drinks since then. However, Blake does recall Morgan being on the show and now wishes he had been on his team.
“He was on the show, but he was on Adam [Levine’s] team, and he didn’t even get through the battles,” Blake says. “Here he is having these gigantic, huge #1 hits and I can’t take any of the credit. It’s like, ‘Man, I had him right there and he got away.'”
To be completely accurate, Morgan started on Usher’s team. He was stolen by Adam during what was called Round 2 of The Battles in season 6. Morgan was eliminated after one performance in the Playoffs.
Since his time on The Voice in 2014, Morgan has been signed to a deal with Big Loud Records. He has reached #1 on the country radio airplay charts with two singles. His first was a collaboration with Florida Georgia Line titled “Up Down” and his second was “Whiskey Glasses.”
Morgan is currently climbing the chart with a song called “Chasin’ You.” That song is in the top 15 on the Billboard chart for country radio airplay this week.
You can listen for all three songs from Morgan Wallen on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104. All three songs are on Morgan’s debut Gold album If I Know Me available everywhere.
You’t got to wonder if Morgan’s mullet and Blake’s mullet from early in his career is another reason Blake wishes he had been on his team back then.
