Jake Owen has a top 10 with his latest single “Homemade.” He shares how he connects with the song that he didn’t write.
The song was co-written by Bobby Pinson, Drew Parker, Jared Mullins and Ben Goldsmith. Jake says that he has an unmistakable connection to “Homemade”…
“It’s a song that really relates to my life,” he states, “I didn’t write it, but I think all of us have some unique homemade qualities about us, you know, that shine through in your music. And that song’s one of the perfect ones for me, where I feel like for a song I didn’t write, it’s almost like I did.”
The country music singer-songwriter explains how the song has to have some personal nostalgia for him to record it if he didn’t write it.
“I think that’s the beauty of music,” Jake shares, “me as a kid growing up, you’d hear songs you love that you didn’t write, but you relate to them. And I do the same thing as an artist now. I just think that I try to always hear a song [and] if I relate to it, then [I] gotta record it.”
“Homemade” is at number seven this week on the Billboard Country Airplay singles chart for country radio airplay. Listen for it on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104.
The song is on Jake’s latest album Greetings from … Jake available everywhere.
Jake will be out on his own “Down to the Tiki Tonk Tour” headlining acoustic tour through March 15th as well as the Lady Antebellum’s “Ocean 2020 Tour” starting in May.
