A fisherman saw a dog trapped in a cage in an Illinois lake and rescued her!

MyNBC5.com reports Bryant Fritz saw a dog trapped in a cage in Kaufman Lake in Champaign, Illinois. The dog was freezing in the cold water. Bryant took off his outer layer of clothes and jumped in to save the puppy.

He took the dog to the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital to be treated. The staff at the clinic said the dog, a female, was treated for hypothermia. She also had some wounds that the clinic treated. See more pictures of the dog here.

Bryant’s dog recently passed away. He is hoping when animal control receives the dog from the clinic he will be able to adopt her.
