Kleenex Alert!!! The CMT Artists of the Year Awards were last night, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place!
Kane Brown fought back tears in an emotional speech accepting his award. The ceremony was just 4 days after the death of his drummer, Kenny Dixon, who died in a car accident over the weekend. His death was just a month before he was due to walk down the aisle and marry his fiancee Sarah Hedrick. He also left behind a young son.

Chris Young presented Kane with the award after acknowledging Dixon’s tragic death. Chris also got onstage to perform his song “Drowning” which was written about Chris’s friend who also died tragically in a car accident. He dedicated the song to Kenny as well.
And in another completely emotional moment, fellow honoree Thomas Rhett, offered some spiritual support and used his acceptance speech time to pray for Kane and Kenny, and their families.
