Week three of the Blind Auditions began last night (10/7) on season 17 of The Voice. How did Blake Shelton do on acquiring artists for Team Blake?
We got a sneak peek at last night’s episode last Friday when The Voice posted the performance of 15-year-old Joana Martinez. Blake, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson all pressed their buttons. Watch Joana perform “Call Out My Name” by The Weekend and hear the coaches pitches below.
We found out last night Joana chose to join Team Blake and have Blake as her coach.
28-year-old Zach Bridges made the decision to sing Blake’s song “Ol’ Red” for his Blind Audition. Blake eventually did press his button for Zach as did Gwen. The two lovebirds had to “battle” to get Zach on their respective team.
What are the odds Zach would pick anybody other than Blake Shelton as his coach after singing one of Blake’s songs? Obviously Zach joined Team Blake.
EllieMae performed Kacey Musgraves’ song “Merry Go Round.” Blake was the only coach to press his button for the 21-year-old bringing her to Team Blake without a fight.
The final performance of the night was by 29-year-old Ricky Duran. All four coaches turned their chairs for his performance of “River” by Leon Bridges.
I will be honest, after the pitches from the coaches I felt like John Legend was the likely choice with Gwen a somewhat close second. It was a surprise to me that Ricky picked Blake as his coach joining Team Blake.
Blake added four artists to Team Blake to bring his total to 10. Gwen added two artists to also reach a total of 10 for Team Gwen. Kelly brought her Team Kelly total to nine with the addition of two artists. Team Legend also stands at nine artists in total as John added two to his team during the night.
The news was revealed that Nick Jonas would be taking the chair currently occupied by Gwen Stefani in season 18 of The Voice. What do you think about Nick joining Blake, Kelly and John as coaches for the next season?
The Blind Auditions continue tonight on The Voice Season 17 starting at 7 PM central time (8 PM eastern time) on NBC. Get a sneak peek at one of the artists we’ll see tonight in the video below.
