***UPDATE ***
There were some internet rumors over the weekend that gave fans hope that Spider-Man will remain in the MCU. And then this news came out…

Doesn’t exactly sound like they are expecting a new deal to be reached. I don’t want to say there is no hope, but it’s not looking good, movie fans.

After 3 movies with the Avengers and 2 successful solo films, it looks like Spider-Man’s time with the Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming to an end.

This is obviously terrible news for fans of the MCU and Spider-Man. As expected it all came down to money. The easy way to explain this is Spider-Man film rights actually belong to Sony and it took a partnership between Disney and Sony to get Spider-Man in the MCU in the first place.
After the MCU took Spider-Man to new, incredible heights with ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, Disney wanted a bigger piece of the pie. Essentially, they wanted a 50/50 split according to Deadline. In the original deal, Sony received 95% of the first dollar gross. You can probably understand why Disney wanted to even that split. But…Sony said no and is now trying to spin the story that Marvel’s Kevin Feige is too busy for Spider-Man.
“We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him.” Sony says Marvel president Kevin Feige may just have too much on his plate https://t.co/BS0QMcL7Y8

What a bunch of crap. Absolutely, no one is buying that excuse. It’s about money and we all know it is.
What is Sony going to do moving forward? Reboot the series AGAIN? Current Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is signed on to play the character in two more movies but even if he is in the MCU-less Spider-Man films, are they just going to ignore everything that has happened to the character over the past 5 films in the MCU?
