The King of Country Music is tightening his grip on the scepter as George Strait scores another #1 album with Honky Tonk Time Machine.
According to Billboard.com the new album from George moved 51,000 equivalent album units in the first week of release. 44,000 of those units were in traditional album sales.
This gives King George 27 number one albums on the Billboard Top Country Albums sales chart. That is the most for any country act in the five-decade history of the chart. There is a tie for second place between Garth Brooks and Willie Nelson who both have at total of 17 chart topping albums.
