‘The Princess Bride’ is Heading to Broadway

Are you a fan of the classic movie The Princess Bride? It is being adapted to the Broadway stage.

The 1987 movie featured many stars that were either already big names or went on to become big names in the movie industry. For example, Cary Elwes as “Westley”, Mandy Patinkin as “Inigo Montoya”, Andre the Giant as “Fezzik”, Billy Crystal as “Miracle Max” and many more! See the complete cast here. It will be interesting to see who they get to star in the stage adaption of the movie.

Bringing the film to Broadway was first talked about twelve years ago, but negotiations fizzled.

Now, the classic Rob Reiner film is closer to hitting the stage as a composer and scriptwriters have been hired to transfer the film to the stage.

This movie is one my personal favorites to watch when I see it is being played on TV. One my favorite quotes of all time is when Mandy Patinkin’s character says, “You keep using that word. I don’t think it means what you think it means.”

Have you ever seen The Princess Bride? Do you think it will transfer well to the stage?
