Luke Bryan shared an emotional moment on the season opener of American Idol Sunday night, as both he and contestant Nick, shared stories of losing their siblings.

Nick Townsend appeared before the judging panel and explained his reason for auditioning, he wanted to follow his dreams in memory of his two brothers who both took their own lives. Luke was noticeably tearing up during the audition as Nick sang James Bay’s “Let It Be”, and with good reason…as most fans of Luke know he also lost his brother and sister.

The pair shared a heartbreaking moment, and after broke the news to Nick…he’s going to HOLLYWOOD!!!
