Brad Keselowski came on strong in the end to capture the NASCAR win at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Folds Of Honor QuikTrip 500.
The second race of the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season was not as treacherous as the previous week in Daytona. However, there were a few incidents both on the track and in the pits.
There were “comers and goes” throughout the race as they say. Kyle Larson seemed poised to challenge for the race win as he captured the win in stage one. Unfortunately for Larson, a mistake put him back in the pack and eliminated his chance to win the race.
Kevin Harvick won stage two and looked as though he could be the eventual race winner. However, Brad Keselowski came on strong at the end and was able to hold of a hard charging Martin Truex Jr. to capture the checkered flag at Atlanta.
Truex Jr. did claim a runner-up finish with Kurt Busch grabbing third place. Kevin Harvick came across the line in fourth place with Clint Bowyer rounding out the top five. See the complete race results for the Folds Of Honor QuikTrip 500 here.
Following the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway (the second race of the year), Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin holds the top spot in the point standings. Kevin Harvick sits on second place with Kyle Busch in third place. Kyle Larson is in fourth place and Joey Logano (defending 2018 NASCAR Cup Series Champion) is in fifth place. Atlanta winner Brad Keselowski holds the sixth spot in the standings. See the complete Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series point standings here.
The series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway this week for the Pennzoil 400 Sunday, March 3rd.
