The 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Season is under way and Denny Hamlin starts the season with a win in the Daytona 500!
There was pretty good action from the start of the race at Daytona International Speedway Sunday, February 17th. However, the final ten laps were jam packed with action. There were two red flag periods in that last ten laps making them take nearly an hour to complete and putting the race into NASCAR’s “overtime” of a green-white-checkered finish.
In the end it was Denny Hamlin that was able to escape the carnage and race to his second Daytona 500 win of his career. Denny was unable to win a race last year. This win all but guarantees him a spot in the NASCAR Playoffs this season.
