Imagine a beautiful white sandy beach, turquoise waters… and puppies! Lots and lots of adorable puppies to cuddle with all day long! Is there anything better?
Technically, it’s the Island of Providenciales, part of Turks & Caicos. But, I’m calling it Puppy Island, because it’s an island filled with fluffy puppies that you can hang with and love on all day long, and possibly adopt!
Who came up with this brilliant idea? Well, it’s all thanks to a rescue organization called Potcake Place that has been saving abandoned and neglected puppies since 2005. Starting in 2010, the front-woman of the organization, Jane Parker-Rauw, came up with a brilliant marketing strategy to get these pups more attention, and hopefully save more doggos…she started inviting tourists to the island (this is the brilliant part) as an option for a magical vacation because who doesn’t want to play with puppies on the beach all day.
Tourists come from all over to visit the island and the rescue, pick a puppy, receive a kit of food, toys, and necessities, and they are off on adventures around the island.
Their goal is to help socialize the puppies and get their mission shared on social media in order to have a better chance of getting as many dogs adopted as possible. Plus, most of the people that visit the island admit to falling in love and end up adopting themselves. If an adoption moves forward, they help book the pup on the plane, and meet the families at the airport with their forever companion.
At this time, I am currently writing my resignation letter, so I can move to Puppy Island full time! (J/K)
Look into booking your next vacation to Puppy Island, or consider donating to Potcake Place so they can save more amazing puppers!
