Just how cold is it? Well, colder in Central Illinois than it is in Antarctica, Siberia, or the South pole…USPS has halted mail delivery til further notice, and now Chicago is setting it’s train tracks on FIRE to keep trains rolling!

Railway Crews are not letting the cold stop the trains and they are fighting back with fire! Chicago area rail service, Metra, uses a gas-fed system to keep things warm enough to operate. However, when it is dangerously cold like this, they have to take more extreme measures. The tracks get so cold they can crack, so Metra has had to lay kerosene soaked rope along the tracks and lights them on fire, so the track can expand and be repaired.

How crazy is that?

It’s ever crazier to see!
