The Blind Auditions came to an end last night (10/15) on The Voice and the Battle Rounds began for season 15. Who did Blake Shelton get for the last spot on Team Blake?
Blake, Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson all started the episode needing just one artist each to complete their respective teams. Adam and Kelly filled their teams first leaving Blake and Jennifer needing to complete their own teams.
Katrina Cain took the stage to perform her own version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon.” The 29-year-old impressed both Kelly and Adam who could not press their buttons because they had no available spots. They kept looking at Blake and Jennifer with surprise they hadn’t pressed yet. The two coaches with open spots listened intently to make their decision to press or not. When Katrina hit a very impressive high note both hit their buttons just a split second apart. Adam and Kelly took over the talk after the performance at first and let Katrina know she would have been a four-chair turn if they had open spots available. Finally, Blake and Jennifer got to make their pitches to her to join their respective teams.
Katrina made the choice to join Team Blake giving Blake Shelton a full team for season 15 of The Voice.
Once Jennifer got her final artist for her team the show shifted gears directly into the Battle Rounds.
Blake enlisted the help of fellow country music superstar Keith Urban as an adviser for Team Blake during the Battle Rounds. Blake paired Joey Green with Michael Lee for the battle. Blake gave the two Bonnie Raitt’s “Thing Called Love” to perform. Both artists performed well leaving Blake with a difficult decision to make.
Blake chose to keep Michael Lee on Team Blake moving forward.
Jennifer paired Colton Smith with Patrique Fortson and gave them Blake Shelton’s “God Gave Me You” to perform. The version the two performed was quite different from Blake’s original and impressed all the coaches. Jennifer had to make the final decision to keep just one of them.
Jennifer chose Patrique to remain on her team with Blake using the first of his two “Steals” for this round to keep Colton on the show by bringing him to Team Blake.
Kelsea Ballerini paired Ayanna Joni with Madison Cain for a battle on the online feature the “Comeback Stage.” I feel like this decision is even harder for Kelsea since she has to tell the artists her decision face-to-face and one-on-one with no audience around.
Kelsea chose to keep Ayanna around for the next round on the “Comeback Stage.”
