Jimmie Allen is a country music singer-songwriter that is making a name for himself on the national stage after many years of chasing his dreams.
Jimmie is a native of southern Delaware. It is the “slower, lower” part of Delaware according to him. He dreamed of being a singer, songwriter and performer since he was a kid. He believed his whole life that with a little talent and hard work those dreams could come true.
Chasing those dreams led Jimmie to move to Nashville to work toward his goals. His path was not easy, but he never gave up.
“I didn’t quit, I never will,” Jimmie says. “Stuff ain’t easy, and you shouldn’t quit either. There’s a big difference between busting your ass, and sitting on it.”
Even when life dealt him a hand that had him living out his car in Music City he continued pushing forward. Jimmie was too proud to ask for help. So, he worked multiple jobs as he lived out of his car until he was able to save enough money to get an apartment.
At one point on the journey people tried to get him to change his sound, but to Jimmie that meant changing who he was.
“People were just trying to help,” Jimmie says now as he reflects back to that time. “But they wanted me to change my sound and told me I had to lose my boots. The turning point came when I stopped listening, and finally let my music be a natural reflection of who I am.”
Jimmie remained true to himself and his sound which eventually led to him being signed by the BBR Music Group and Stoney Creek Records. While the path he traveled to get to this pint was not easy, he wouldn’t change a step on it.
“I don’t regret it,” he shares about the hard road he walked. “I think each thing you do adds a layer, whether it’s a layer of toughness, perseverance, motivation, or just a layer of wisdom. At the end of the day you come back to what you know, and what’s embedded in you.”
Jimmie has released a self-titled EP featuring his debut single “Best Shot.” The song is approaching the top 20 on the country radio airplay singles charts. It sits at #21 on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts this week and climbing.
