David Lee Murphy asked his friend Kenny Chesney to sing with him on the single “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” and this week it hit number one on the country radio airplay charts!
The advance Billboard Country Radio Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles charts have been released and David Lee and Kenny’s collaboration is in the top spot on both charts for this week.
Believe it or not, this is only the second #1 single David Lee has scored as a singer. His only other single to reach the top of the charts for his was his 1995 hit song “Dust On The Bottle.” David Lee has scored many number one songs as a songwriter over the years like “Big Green Tractor” (Jason Aldean), “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” (Thompson Square), “Anywhere With You” (Jake Owen), “The More I Drink” (Blake Shelton), “’Til It’s Gone” (Kenny Chesney) just to name a few.
“Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” marks the 31st career chart topper for Kenny. “All The Pretty Girls” became his 30th #1 single late last year. It may not take long for Kenny to rack up his 32nd number one as his own current single “Get Along” is already in the top 10 on the country radio airplay singles charts this week.
If you’ve been to one of Kenny Chesney’s concerts in the past year or so, there’s a good chance you have seen David Lee Murphy on stage with Kenny. David Lee has been spending time with Kenny on the road so that the two could write together. You can check out one of those collaborative performances in the video below where the two friends performed David Lee Murphy’s first #1 song “Dusty On The Bottle” at the bottom of the page.
David Lee’s second chart topper is on his current album No Zip Code available everywhere now.
Congratulations to David Lee Murphy and Kenny Chesney on the #1 song “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.”
