The Sunday afternoon race (5/6) was held under cloudy skies most of the time with the threat of rain hitting the track. The cooler conditions made for fast conditions for the drivers. At one point in the race Kevin Harvick put down a lap that was faster than the qualifying lap that earned the pole position for the race.
Kevin was one of six drivers that exchanged the lead 17 times during the race. Earlier in the year Kevin clicked of three consecutive wins with domination in to of those races. He got back to that domination as he won both the first and second stages of the Dover race, led a race high 201 of the 400 laps in the race and scored his fourth win of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season and his second victory on the Monster Mile.
Kevin’s Stewart-Haas Racing teammate followed with a second place finish Sunday. Daniel Suarez claimed third place with Martin Truex Jr. in fourth place. Kurt Busch, another Stewart-Haas Racing team, rounded out the top five. See the complete race results for the AAA 400 Drive For Autism here.
Although Kyle Busch had a failure in his drive train and scored a DNF for the Dover race, his lead in the point standings was enough that he holds on to the top spot this week. Joey Logano (2nd), Kevin Harvick (3rd) and Clint Bowyer (4th) all hold steady in the point standings for another week as well. Brad Keselowski moves up to take over 5th place in the standings.
