So far this year, Disney has seen Marvel properties ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ score HUGE money at the box office. Combine those totals with future earnings for the upcoming Han Solo movie and ‘Incredibles 2’ and 2018 has been a remarkable year for the house of mouse. In fact, 2017 wasn’t too Shabby with ‘Star Wars Episode VIII’ closing out the year strong.
BUT WAIT UNTIL 2019!
In 2019, we will see:
- Toy Story 4
- The live action Aladdin
- The live action Lion King
- Frozen 2
- Dumbo
- Avengers 4
- Captain Marvel
- Star Wars Episode IX
Let’s just go ahead and assume that ‘Star Wars Episode IX’, ‘Avengers 4’, ‘Toy Story 4’ and ‘Frozen 2’ are going to mega huge box office wins. We have nothing to suggest otherwise. And based on the performances of the live action ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Beauty And The Beast’ movies, we can expect the ‘Lion King’ and ‘Aladdin’ to be really good and perform well.
People have been wondering when audiences will tire of super heroes, Star Wars, and nostalgic movie sequels. The almighty dollar doesn’t lie, people are nowhere close to getting tired of these movies. ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ just broke every notable opening weekend record and despite some push back over Star Wars VIII, I will be shocked if ‘Star Wars IX’ doesn’t challenge ‘Avengers 4’ for the year’s top crown. The key for Disney’s dominance over the last few years is that these movies are all good movies. Just goes to show, if you put something good on the screen, people will come to see it.
