Country music singer-songwriter Dierks Bentley has some tips for guys for Valentine’s Day.
If you are taking your sweetheart out tomorrow for a special Valentine’s Day date, Dierks’ advice is to “be respectful, be considerate, be kind and be thoughtful” in what you do and how your interact with that special person.
“You know, just opening the door, it’s such a big deal,” Dierks says. This act can be called being a gentleman and he thinks it is the way to go.
“It’s just a nice thing to do,” Dierks explains, “It’s a car door, unlocking the door for somebody to get in the car first and hold the door to get in.”
This can also transfer to opening and holding the doors to a building and letting the other person walk through while you hold the door open. If you want to go total gentleman, you can even hold that special person’s chair while they sit down at a table.
“If you’re doing that, then you’re obviously thinking about ways to be respectful, be considerate, be kind and be thoughtful,” Dierks states.
I agree with these tips from Dierks. However, I will give you a small warning. I have done this in the past and have been told by the person, “I can do that myself” by the person. My response to them was, “I know you can do this for yourself, I am just showing you the respect you deserve by doing it. If you would rather me not do it, I will show you that same respect by respecting your wishes.”
Most of the time they tell me that I can continue to do it. Only a couple of times did they ask me to stop.
Whatever your situation, I hope you have a Happy Valentine’s Day.
