Chris Young got a dog for Christmas and he named the pup “Porter.” Where did Chris get the name for his new friend?

Chris’ sister gave him a German shepherd puppy for Christmas. The country music singer-songwriter plans on making the pup a road dog.

Chris shared with American Country Countdown host Kix Brooks (the show can be heard on the weekends here on B104) where his new best friend’s name came from.

“One of my friends has a dog named Dolly,” Chris explains. “So, I told him, I was like, ‘Man, if I get a dog this year – he’s gonna be a boy, so I’ll name him Porter’.”

Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner are two of country music’s legendary stars that collaborated often on songs that have become some of the most iconic songs.

Well, Chris now has a male puppy (pictured above), “So, now we have Porter and Dolly,” Chris shared with a laugh.
