Two of country music’s brightest young stars got together on stage to cover a mega-hit song by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss.
I ran across the video while checking out CountryRebel.com. According to their post, and the video, Brett Young and Carly Pearce became friends before either of their careers really got moving toward success. Carly was part of Brett’s tour when it stopped at Marathon Music Works in Nashville and they decided to collaborate live on stage.
Brett has been doing well over the past couple of years scoring three number one songs out of three released on the major country radio airplay charts with “Sleep Without You,” “In Case You Didn’t Know” and just recently with “Like I Loved You.”
Carly reached the top spot on the country radio airplay charts with her debut single “Every Little Thing” and it happened to be the same week as this show.
Brad Paisley recorded the song “Whiskey Lullaby” with Alsion Krauss and released it as a single in 2004. While the song peaked just shy of the top of the charts at #3, that didn’t stop it from becoming an iconic song in country music. The song has been certified 2 x platinum by the RIAA for sales of two million copies and it won the CMA Song of the Year Award in 2005.
It was this song that Brett and Carly chose to sing together that night in Nashville, and to say they did an amazing job would be an understatement.
