Is Blake Shelton Retiring?

Blake Shelton has fans wondering if he is getting set to retire because of something he posted on Twitter the other day.

Blake posted the following message to his good friend and head coach of the Arizona Cardinals NFL team from 2013 through 2017.

That sent fans into a bit of a frenzy wondering if the country music singer-songwriter and reigning winning coach on The Voice was alluding to his own intentions of hanging up the guitar and parking the bus in the barn.

You can all take a deep breath and relax because I don’t think that will take place for a long time.

Supporting my belief is the fact that just last month Blake re-signed with his record label Warner Bros./Warner Music Nashville. That has been Blake’s recording home for the past 17 years and the new deal has been called a “long-term deal.”

Billboard.com quotes Warner Music Nashville chairman/CEO John Esposito as saying about Blake’s new deal with the record label, “He re-signed with us to basically end his career here. That’s a long time.”

That statement alone leads one to believe that Blake’s career is nowhere near the end. If you need more evidence, how about Blake’s own statement about the new deal with the record label.

“I remember my first trip to Nashville in 1994,” he said, “I drove down Music Row and don’t know why, but when I passed the Warner Bros. building I said, ‘That’s the label I want to be on!’ Now, all these years later, I’m proud to have spent my entire recording career with such a great company. I look forward to more incredible years with my Warner family.”

Both record label executive and artist made references to many more years together, so I don’t think we need to worry about Blake Shelton retiring in the near future.

Watch for Blake to defend last season’s win (six total wins in 13 seasons) in season 14 of The Voice that premieres next month. Blake will also be out this year on his 2018 “Country Music Freaks Tour” with special guests Trace AdkinsBrett Eldredge and Carly Pearce that also starts next month. Find out where that tour is stopping here.

At the end of last year Blake scored his 25th #1 single with his song “I’ll Name The Dogs.” I’m looking forward to seeing how many more chart toppers he will add to his list in 2018.
